It's not a situation anyone hopes for, but any family's typical day can turn into a nightmare when a child is involved in a serious accident or receives an unfortunate diagnosis.
No one knows this better than the Westchester, Putnam and Rockland county families who find themselves in the rooms of Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.
The Valhalla hospital welcomed back families this week who have since completed treatment and recovery for the 8th annual 100.7 WHUD Radiothon.
Teenagers from Ossining and Somers spoke at a live broadcast of the station about their connection to the hospital as "Mike & Kacey in the Morning" listeners dialed in to make donations.
"The end goal of all of this is to raise money for the care of the area’s most seriously ill and injured children," the hospital said in a statement. "Last year, we crossed the $1M mark in terms of total donations garnered since the first Radiothon event."
