We were very happy with how things went. We came in seeded
first as the four time defending champions and we wanted to defend our
title. Kendall Jerzyk also defended her floor title to be back to back
floor SCC Champ. She won with just a half a tenth difference over
teammate and best friend Stefani Taschner. But Stefani also got a
championship of her own on bars. Stefani placed second in the AA and
Kendall 4th and they have been our strongest All Arounders all year.
They competed well overall tonight and we expected they would be among
the top competitors. I was especially proud of our first four beam
competitors tonight - Maria Iennaco, Becca ANderson, Amanda Rubano and
Erin MAxwell- who all nailed their beam sets under the pressure of a
championship meet. Next up is States on Saturday and in order to do
well, beam is going to be the key. These four looked confident and
really helped boost our team score. We have a few things here and
there to clean up but we are looking pretty good going into the rest
of the post season.
We recently had our our Senior Nite and we honored our one senior, Amanda
Rubano. She competed bars and beam, placing 4th on beam and was named
to the All-SCC team. It was a great night for her and a nice way to go
out. She's been a part of an SCC Championship team all four years of
her high school career. I've also attached a picture of her with her
mom, Joanne, and dad, Matt.
