Delgado Joins Pyramid Healthcare Solutions as Director of Cancer Registry Services

Maria D. C. Delgado, CTR, has joined Pyramid Healthcare Solutions as director of cancer registry services. Pyramid is a leading provider of revenue cycle managementext services for the healthcare industry.

In her new position, Delgado, 54, will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise in the delivery of all cancer registry servicesext as well as health information and management services. She will direct and manage cancer registry consultants assigned to various Pyramid clients, perform ACoS survey and operational assessments, and assist the sales team as it seeks new clients and expand service lines.

Previously, Delgado served as cancer outcome registry manager at Florida Hospital Tampa in Tampa, Fla. In that role, Delgado managed cancer registry activities for four Florida hospitals as well as multiple CTR contractors. Under her leadership, the hospital received three-year American College of Surgeons (ACoS) approval in 2007 and 2010 with multiple commendations. She also worked with outside vendors to ensure that abstracting for Florida Hospitals was performed accurately and timely.

Prior to that position, Delgado worked for St. Anthony’s Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla., which received three-year ACoS approval (2005 and 2008) with multiple commendations during her tenure. She has collaborated with Robert Miller, M.D. (aboutcancer.com) with multiple quality improvement studies (lung, breast, prostate, bladder and colorectal). Delgado also was an independent cancer registry abstractor for several Florida area hospitals, abstracting more than 2,500 cases per year.

Delgado graduated from Empire State Technical School of Business in New York City. She has multiple certifications including Business Administration, Medical Transcriptionist and Certified Tumor Registrar from the National Cancer Registrar Association.
